History of the foundation.
Established in 1979, the Symposia Foundation is a public, nonprofit medical education foundation, organized under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). In 1951, Symposia Foundation CEO and Founder Hil Zimpelman established Symposia Specialist, a for-profit entity that was the first company ever to produce CME accredited materials in print. Symposia Specialist evolved into the Symposia Foundation and over the years has produced thousands of medical books, audiotapes, video tapes, medical journals, and many other teaching tools providing the latest information on research, procedures, surgical techniques, new drugs and products. In most cases, these materials have been made available free of charge to physicians, nurses, researchers, students, libraries, and hospitals all those who are responsible for our health care. The foundation has given away millions of dollars in educational materials over the years, helping ensure the best possible healthcare treatment for everyone. Decades of experience have resulted in a company with an unparalleled understanding of the needs of all those involved in funding, producing and disseminating CME enduring materials. Today, the Symposia Foundation has developed important new ways to not only disseminate CME data in a timely manner, but has also developed CME in formats that medical professionals can absorb quickly and use to provide better healthcare to the public. |
